United Cities Credit Union (UCCU)

United Cities Credit Union (UCCU), formerly known as Newark Board of Education Employees Credit Union (NBEECU), was founded in 1935 by school personnel in Newark. Originally serving teachers in the Newark School System, UCCU has expanded its membership to include residents and their immediate families who live, work, or worship in East Orange, Irvington, Maplewood, Newark, Orange, and South Orange.

As a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative, UCCU is committed to providing a broad range of financial services responsive to member needs. These services include various accounts such as checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, club accounts, and youth accounts, as well as loan options for homes, autos, debt consolidation, and vacations. UCCU also offers online banking and mobile banking services.

The credit union is dedicated to safeguarding members' assets, maintaining financial security, and ensuring members have a role in its development. UCCU is federally insured up to $250,000 through the NCUA and aims to help members become financially self-sufficient and successful by placing high importance on consumer education and financial thrift.
