The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines supports mortgage lending, economic development, and affordable housing in the communities its members serve. As an MPF® Program provider, it provides equal access to secondary market opportunities, no matter the size of the institution. FHLB Des Moines is a partner of the National Association of Minority Mortgage Bankers of America (NAMMBA).

The Mortgage Rate Relief product, launched in 2024, was designed to make homeownership attainable for borrowers at or below 80% of the FHFA Underserved Areas Data, by permanently reducing their interest rate by approximately 2 percentage points lower than the current market rate. Community lenders know their customers better than anyone else and the Mortgage Partnership Finance Program provides the competitive edge to offer fixed-rate mortgages to support local communities.

FHLB Des Moines also provides a variety of services designed to assist in successful daily cash management operations. These include deposit accounts and safekeeping and custody services.
