Raleigh Mortgage Bankers Association

The Raleigh Mortgage Bankers Association (RMBA) was founded in 1977 as the Mortgage Lenders Association with 13 initial members. It incorporated in the 1980s, becoming the Raleigh Mortgage Bankers Association and growing to as many as 88 members. In 1995, RMBA was recognized with the Association of the Year Award from the Mortgage Bankers of the Carolinas (MBAC), a testament to its long-standing commitment to the mortgage industry.

RMBA serves as a pivotal organization for mortgage professionals in the Raleigh area, promoting diversity and inclusion within the industry. It actively works to foster the next generation of mortgage bankers through regular meetings, networking events, and educational initiatives. The association provides a forum for members to connect with peers, learn about changes in the real estate and mortgage markets, and engage with representatives from key industry entities like Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the NC Housing Finance Agency.

Operating in conjunction with the Mortgage Bankers Association of the Carolinas (MBAC), RMBA also provides crucial legislative representation in support of its member companies. Its members encompass a wide array of industry participants, including residential and commercial mortgage bankers, brokers, wholesale lenders, banks, credit unions, and various affiliated service providers, advocating for their interests in North and South Carolina through efforts like the MAC-PAC.
