DHA Resident Services Department

The Durham Housing Authority (DHA), established in 1949, provides affordable housing solutions for low-income families, individuals with disabilities, and the elderly in Durham, North Carolina. DHA manages 1,201 Public Housing units and 3,078 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV) to support residents in securing safe and suitable housing.

DHA is committed to increasing self-sufficiency among its residents, offering various resident services and programs focused on education, credit and finances, computers, homeownership, employment opportunities, and job training. The Resident Services Department serves as a central hub for information, opportunities, and services designed to help residents overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

Guided by its vision to be the leading provider of affordable housing and its mission to develop and manage diverse communities, DHA aims to build stronger Durham communities by ensuring access to quality housing and resources for its residents. DHA is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners and operates under the regulations of the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
